Spaces are limited and we keep our classes small with a maximum of 6 kids per term.

What is our Balance Specialized Classroom ?

Our Balance program is an alternative education program for neurodivergent youth to strengthen the skills often overlooked during academic settings and give your child an extra boost a few days a week!

  1. We assess your child’s current skills across a variety of vital learning domains.

  2. We set individualized goals and create unique specialized skill development plans.

  3. We use a variety of evidence based strategies to teach your child these skills through fun, hands on and engaging methods and keep you updated along the way!

When is class?

Our classroom is twice per week on Mondays and/or Wednesdays with half day or full day options.

  • Half day: Mornings from 9:00-12:00pm (3 hours)

  • Full Days: 9:00-3:00pm (6 hours)

Term 1: September 9th - December 18th (15 weeks)

Term 2: January 8th - March 26th (12 weeks)

Term 3: March 31st - June 18th (12 weeks)

Who is the program for?

Our program is for neurodivergent youth ages 10-13 that may have a diagnosis of ADHD, Autism or other social, emotional exceptionalities. Learners looking to improve their social skills, mental health or executive functioning skills may be of best fit for this program, if you are unsure if this program is a good fit for your child, complete the form below and schedule a free consultation with us!

Cost, Funding and Insurance

This is a therapy based group program, our group rate is $55.00 per hour.

  • Half days (3 hours): $165.00 per day

  • Full days (6 hours): $330.00 per day

This program is eligible under the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) funding and we are an approved provider of core clinical services.

This program may also be eligible under extended health benefits for social work.

Evidence Base of our Programming:

We also utilize strategies from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to teach Emotional Regulation, Mindfulness and to teach kids how their thoughts, emotions and behaviours are interconnected!

Our goal with this program is to teach our learners the vital skills they need to live a balanced life!

Our programs are founded in positive psychology, child development, behaviour analysis, and neuroscience. We utilize strategies from cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy to teach across learning domains such as:

  • Mental health and psychological flexibility

  • Social Emotional Learning and Emotional Regulation

  • Executive functioning

  • Language and Communication

  • Social Skills

  • Academic Skills

Some examples of skills we have taught in the past include:

  • Developing a sense of self awareness & values awareness.

  • Developing a sense of Social awareness.

  • Strengthening problem solving and perspective taking skills.

  • Bullying awareness and responding to bullying.

  • Responding with Empathy and Compassion.

  • Developing a Growth mindset and “never give up” attitude.

  • Enhance collaborative teamwork.

  • Increase confidence and leadership.

  • Building healthy friendships with peers.

  • Learn flexible thinking and responding to challenges.

  • Strengthening executive functioning and decision making.

  • Time management, prioritization, organization and focus/attention.

  • Homework help, specific academic support and more!

How Do We Teach?

We use a neurodivergent affirming approach to our services, we know our learners require adaptive and practical activities to learn and grow! That’s why our program uses evidence based strategies and teaches them through fun and engaging activities such as art, music, technology, games and other fun methods of teaching in combination with more traditional instructional methods to promote a balanced and engaging classroom environment without overstimulation.

We provide movement breaks throughout the day and incorporate outings into the community to facilitate community integration and increase functional life skills.
